FAQ'S
How fit do I need to be?
You should be of moderate fitness to enjoy this trip.
Each day you are undertaking about four or five hours activity. The pace is
gentle and you can go as fast or as slowly as you wish.
Why do we need a guide on this trip?
Because there is a lot of different equipment
and logistical arrangements associated with this trip, our guide is there to
ensure that not only are you safe, but also to assist with the set up for each
day. If you prefer to move at a quicker pace than the rest of the group then
you are welcome to go ahead and meet up with the group at designated points
along the way. Likewise you may prefer to stay with the guide and enjoy their
company and knowledge.
How much mountain biking experience do I need?
We recommend that you have at least ridden some single tracks before. Just being able to ride a bike will not be sufficient enough experience to negotiate the track. Your guide will assist you with how to ride this section of the track, but they cannot prevent
you from falling off and hurting yourself, therefore you do require some mountain
biking experience to enjoy this section of the track.
What is the accommodation like?
The bunkroom at Portage Resort Hotel has up
to 6 beds in each room and you will be sharing with others, not necessarily
from your group. The standard twin share en-suite option is in the Courtyard
Rooms which do not have a sea view. You are welcome to upgrade, just let us
know.
What cooking facilities are there?
If you are staying in the bunkroom there is kitchen facilities for you. If you are taking the twin share option, then you need to dine in either the bar or the restaurant for each meal. A packed
lunch is included each day as part of the rate.
