Picton is located on Queen Charlotte Sound, the largest of the 3
sounds that make up the Marlborough
Sounds. It is the largest town
(5000 residents) in the Marlborough Sounds.
Many people are familiar with it’s location as they pass through
between the North and South Island on the inter-island ferry.
However, Picton has more to offer than just a stop-over for a cup
of coffee before getting on the ferry.
This picturesque seaside town has a quiet sophistication. You can
stroll along the waterfront, enjoy a coffee or Marlborough wine at
one of the many cafés overlooking the harbour. Wander along the High
Street and into the many shops and art galleries. Wine and art tours, cruises, fishing trips, sea kayaking,
walking and mountain biking can all start in Picton.
